Diversitat Training can assist you in accessing a Government subsidised training place that may be available through: Victorian Training Guarantee (VTG) OR Adult Community & Further Education/Learn Local (ACFE)
please read the document explaining eligibility for the Victorian Training Guarantee. This is a type of funding that subsidises training places in recognised training for people who meet the eligibility requirements. For more information about the Victorian Training Guarantee, including eligibility and fees, please visit the Skills Victoria website at http://www.skills.vic.gov.au. you are eligible for a government subsidised training place this brochure applies to you. It explains the Enrolment Fees and Charges for learners undertaking government funded training or further education. It also outlines available concessions, financial assistance and refunds.
This schedule does not apply to international learners or learners undertaking fee for service courses. Fees for these activities are set on a course-by-course basis. Please take time to read this brochure carefully before you enrol.
Adult Community Further Education (Learn Local) provides subsidised training places to eligible learners to study at a Foundation Skills** level ie pre-vocational and language & literacy programs.
The following information relates to both the VTG & ACFE fees and charges Enrolment Fees & Charges Learners are required to pay a Tuition Contribution and a Learner Amenities Fee or Resource Fee. Fees will normally be collected for the calendar year in which the enrolment occurs. Fees are calculated at the time of each enrolment. Any additional enrolment will attract the appropriate additional Tuition Fee and Learners Amenities Fee up to the maximum fee applicable for the calendar year. For example, if your course has an end date in 2011 and you do not fully complete it in 2011, you will have to pay another enrolment fee in the year you complete any outstanding units.
Tuition Fee The tuition fee is set by the government. It is calculated based on the number of hours of enrolment, at a rate that varies depending on the category a course is in. All courses have been classified into one of six course categories for the purpose of calculating fees: **Foundation Skills (basic general education, English language, literacy and numeracy courses up to Certificate IV level, and the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning - Foundation level - as defined on the Foundation Skills Category Course List) Skills Creation (most Certificate I and II courses, the VCE and VCAL Intermediate and Senior) Apprenticeships (all courses taken as part of an apprenticeship training contract, at any level) Traineeships (all courses taken as part of a traineeship training contract, at any level) Skills Building (most non-apprenticeship Certificate III and IV courses) Skills Deepening (all non-apprenticeship Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas and vocational Graduate qualifications)
For each category there is also a set minimum, which is the lowest you should expect to pay in any calendar year, and a maximum, which puts an upper limit on what you will pay in any calendar year, even if you enrol in a large number of hours in that course.Learners who are eligible for concessions for Tuition Fees will pay the minimum tuition fee no more than once per calendar year.

Learner Amenities Fee The Learner Amenities Fee contributes to the provision of learner services such as kitchen and refreshment facilities, learner activities and counselling. This fee applies to all government funded training or further education except for courses where Learners are undertaking workplace training (Trainees) and do not attend classes at a Diversitat venue. Learners may be charged $50.00 per course.
Other Fees Materials Fee may be charged for course materials such as resources, handouts and text materials. Additional Expenses/Levies – Some courses have additional costs to cover course materials such as tools of trade, equipment, excursions etc. Learners will be advised if these expenses apply to them prior to enrolment.
Certificate Charges The cost of producing a certificate for completed courses is covered by the course fee. However, there is a charge of $25.00 for re-issuing lost or damaged certificates.
Payment Of Fees Course places WILL NOT be confirmed until fees or a deposit are received. Short Course Payments (less than 7 weeks) Payment is required in full prior to commencement of course. Long Course Payments (7 weeks or longer) At least 30% deposit is required prior to commencement of course.
Once fees are paid (as per the above), enrolment is official.
Payment Options Cash, cheque (with appropriate identification) or EFTPOS, at the Diversitat Training office, Centrepoint Arcade, 132 Little Malop Street, Geelong 3220. Interest free Direct Debit is the preferred option for payment plans. Credit card payments by phone will also be accepted after enrolment.
Payment By Installments In cases of hardship or financial difficulty, Diversitat Training may negotiate a payment plan agreement. Payment By A Third Party If Learner fees are being met by a third party (eg Job Network Agency) then an Authority to Invoice letter must be provided at the time of enrolment. If any employer or third party is paying Learner fees and charges, the Learner must provide a written authorisation form at the time of enrolment. Employers will not be invoiced without a letter of authority. Important Restrictions Certificates and Statements of Attainment will not be issued until all fees are paid in full. NON-PAYMENT - Learners WILL NOT receive an award/certificate for a course until all fees are paid in full. In cases of non-payment of course fees by instalments, Learners will not be permitted to attend classes until the payment is received (unless a prior arrangement has been agreed upon). Please Note: Missed classes may result in some units in a course being assessed as ‘Withdrawn’.
Concessions Concessions on tuition fees for government subsidised training places in all course categories except Skills Deepening (Diplomas and above) are available to people in the following groups: Commonwealth Health Care Card holders, and their dependent children and dependent spouses. Pensioner Concession Card holders, and their dependent children and dependent spouses Veteran’s Gold Card holders (but not their dependents). The concession fee for all course categories is the same as the minimum fee for the relevant course category except Diploma and Advanced Diploma where there is NO concession fee.
Indigenous Students Under an Indigenous Completions Initiative, Indigenous students pay only the minimum or concession tuition fee for all courses, including courses in the Skills Deepening category. If identifying to be of indigenous descent, a letter from an indigenous organisation confirming this status may be required. CONCESSIONS DO NOT APPLY if fees are being paid by the Australian Government. If the Australian Government is funding your enrolment, the concession fee is not available. If you are referred to a provider by an agency of the Australian Government, for example a Job Network agency, you should pay the standard tuition fee and then seek reimbursement from the agency.
Recognition Of Prior Learning (RPL) RPL brochures and application forms containing a detailed explanation of procedures and fees are available from Diversitat Training, or go to http://www.diversitat.org.au/services/training/programs-a-support These are applicable after the Learner has enrolled in a course. Credit Transfer Learners who successfully complete a unit/module at another training organisation, that is identical to a Nationally Accredited unit/module offered at Diversitat Training, may apply for credit for that unit/module. Learners must provide evidence at enrolment to prove that the unit/module was successfully completed. Refund Of Fees &/or Levies Cancellation Diversitat Training will refund all payments made by a learner if the course is cancelled or postponed by more than four weeks, unless alternative arrangements, acceptable to the Learner are made. For example, you may wish to transfer your enrolment to the next available course. If the course is cancelled during delivery you are entitled to a full refund of the tuition fees, an appropriate amount of the student services and amenities fee, and fees for any materials that have not been used. Withdrawal Refund of fees is NOT made automatically if a learner withdraws. To be eligible for a refund, Learners must complete, sign and return a ‘Withdrawal’ form. This form is available from Diversitat Training reception. Long Courses (7 weeks or longer) Learners who withdraw between enrolling and course commencement may receive a full refund of the course fees. Learners who withdraw between commencement and four weeks after commencement, may receive a refund of the course fees less a $50.00 administration fee. No refund will be given after four weeks from the commencement date. If extenuating circumstances apply and proof is received, a refund of some fees may be negotiated. Short Courses (less that 7 weeks) No refund will be given to Learners who withdraw 7 days or less before course commencement (or non-attendance) without proof of extenuating circumstances (eg. medical certificate). If proof of extenuating circumstances is received, a refund of some fees may be negotiated. |
