Parents Returning to Earning

 

The Returning to Earning program provides support for parents to return to work after an absence caring for children. Grants of up to $1000 are available which can be used to cover any costs associated with approved training, such as books and materials, course fees, transport and childcare. To qualify for up to $1000 in PRTE funding, you:

•    Have been absent from education, accredited training* and the workforce for over 2 years while caring for children; and
•    Are currently unemployed** and wish to return to work, preferably in the next 12 months; and
•    Have not worked for more than 4 months full time, or equivalent part-time, in the last 2 years; and
•    Are an Australian resident living in Victoria***;and
•    Will enrol in training to improve your workforce skills and/or earning potential; and
•    Have not received a grant under the program Parents Returning to Work; or
•    Were unable to activate your Parents Returning to Work grant due to unforeseen circumstances.

*Accredited English Language training is an exception to this condition
** For the purposes of the Returning to Earning program ‘unemployed’ is deemed to include paid employment for less than 6.5 hours per week.
