Settlement Grants Program (SGP) - Geelong

The Settlement Grants Program aims to support culturally and linguistically diverse families and individuals who have been in the country for more than six months and less than five years.

SGP Casework Services

This program helps individuals and familie access the correct information in regard to settlement including immigration, housing, health, education, employment, legal, schooling, language, referrals, orientation and social support etc.

Our program promotes networking, liaison with, and capacity building of, mainstream services to ensure they take culturally and linguistically diverse community needs and issues into consideration when planning service provision.

Target Group

The target group for SGP services include premanent residents who have arrived in the past five years as humanitarian entrants or family stream migrants with low English language proficiency; communities that require assistance to develop their capacity to organise, plan and advocate for services to meet their needs; and dependents of skilled migrants who have a low English language proficiency.

Services delivered under the SGP in Geelong include:

  • Casework, community development and integration through inclusion and participation

SGP Community Development

SGP Community Development actively works towards achieving positive outcomes in relation to key settlement issues through recreational, educational, social and information programs.

Workers liaise and develop networks with service providers to promote a better understanding of the issues culturally and linguistically diverse communities face to enable the delivery of appropriately responsive services.
