Diversitat Aged Support - Healthy Activity for Older People to Reach their Full Potential.

The State Government Department of Human Services funds our Planned Activity Groups under the Home and Community Care Program.  Our staff encourages older people to be as independent as possible by supporting them to do things for themselves, make choices and plans, and take an active role in the community. Diversitat has adopted HACC's Active Service Model.  Please see attached brief explanation of this philosophy.

Our high needs planned activity group supports older clients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds who are living at home offering them a day activities group Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays 10.00am – 2.30pm when they can participate in regular leisure activities, crafts, gardening, art, board games and mental stimulation, social interaction, gentle exercise, and other structured or spontaneous activities and outings, thus providing respite and support for carers.

A culturally appropriate meal and transportation is provided at a subsidised rate for participants.

Clients are referred to this group from other health and welfare agencies, but can also be self-referred.

Please phone the office if you, a family member or friend would benefit from this group, and a staff member will visit you at home to explain the service and assess for suitability.

Our two international women’s groups meet Mondays 1-3pm at our Northern Community Hub in Norlane and Wednesdays at the Diversitat Community Centre in Clarence Street Geelong West 1 – 3 pm. This lively social group enjoys speakers on topics of interest and educative sessions in the health and welfare sphere, as well as presentations and demonstrations, outings and trips.

Our Men’s Groups meet Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays with the Macedonian group in the mornings and Italian group in the afternoon.
These groups enjoy billiards, cards, bocce and bus trips and also information sessions and other community centre events.  We also have our Men On A Mission - and older men's group that has a weekly out and about trip.

We look forward to reaching out to new community groups with our service, so if you are interested in becoming involved or perhaps your group needs a venue, please contact the centre. For more information please contact:
