Teaching & Learning Capital Fund

This project is funded by the Australia Government through the Teaching and Learning Capital Fund (TLCF) for Vocational Education and Training (VET)."

In August  2009 Diversitat received funding for a project called “Building Training Capacity for Geelong”  which seeks to improve  training and employment outcomes by expanding and fitting out our training facilities across 3 main sites located in Geelong (central), Belmont (south) and Norlane (north) covering a large area of the greater Geelong region.  Details are as follows:

1) Belmont - 33 Mount Pleasant Rd, Belmont 3126

20 new computers for the training rooms and 2 Apple laptops for trainers, the installation of 9 split systems located in the training rooms, reception and all office areas.

2) Central Geelong - 3-5Market St, Geelong 3220

Comprises the fit out of a vacant building located adjacent to the Pulse Community Radio and Training Centre in central Geelong.  The fitout consists of 4 new multipurpose training rooms that will connect internally to the current facility.  On completion of this project the centre will offer a total of 8 training rooms, a media, film & television studio and community radio station, unique to the Geelong region.

We also had funding for 3 interactive whiteboards of which 2 have been installed.  Refer photos below.

3) Northern Community Hub Project, 25-41 Arunga Ave, Norlane VIC 3214

A major new community and educational hub located in the northern region of Geelong.  The building will comprise 8 training/activities rooms, 3 meeting rooms, a commercial style kitchen and staff facilities to cater for approximately 30 people.  The project commenced construction in October 2009 and is well underway.

We are now only 1 month away from finishing the Northern Community Hub and it is a hive of activity out there.

There are electricians, plaster's, tiler's, cabinet makers, concreters, pavers and a stream of trade’s people coming and going.  It is amazing the changes you see on every visit and it just keeps getting better.

Please refer attached for  the most recent photos.

PULSE - End of July 2010

The Pulse is finished!

And what an incredible transformation it is!  From a humble old garage space to four large training rooms, it is hard to believe that this could be possible in such a short period of time.  The entire construction process took only 4 months and the final product is fantastic.

This new facility will allow Diversitat to increase the number of training programs it offers covering a wide range of subjects.

It also boasts to being the largest independent training facility in central Geelong (excluding Deakin University and Gordon TAFE) and is an extremely valuable asset for the Geelong region.

Attached are photos of the finished building however I will update this again once we have fitted out the rooms.

For further information please contact Diversitat Training on 5224 2329 or go to the Diversitat Training tab on this website.

NCH July 2010

Great news - the building is now at lock-up stage which means the builders are full steam ahead with the internal fitout.  Every visit sees a new addition to the internal spaces and enables you to get a true feeling of how the building will function when up and running.  The training/activity rooms have such great light with the best seat in the house being the staff kitchen/lounge room.  There really is something great about every room in the building.

Some of these photos may be difficult to interpret but what you are looking at is the inside walls and corridors of the new Pulse training rooms.  Since resolving all the structural challenges things have been moving very rapidly with an expected completion date at the end of this month - very exciting!
