Community Partners Project
This project aims to promote and facilitate increased and sustained access by culturally and linguistically diverse communities with significant aged care needs to federal aged care support services in the City of Greater Geelong and Borough of Queenscliffe.
Some of the activities of this project include:
Consultations with local ethnic communities
Support and training regarding CALD issues to aged care providers
Information seminars for aged care providers
Information sessions for CALD communities
Developing a booklet of aged care services in the region which will be translated into 5 community languages
Cross Cultural training to aged care students
Developing information packages regarding needs of communities in the region.
Lunch and Laughter in Every Language
Diversitat’s Aged Care area is offering opportunities for older men and women from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds to attend a regular socialisation program.
Participants need to be:
Over 60 years
Widowed or living alone
CALD background
Not involved in other groups
The aim of the program is to re-connect socially isolated older CALD men and women. Two workers will support the group, but the longer term aim will be to integrate participants on a gradual basis into existing groups and networks. (Or encourage them to start their own!) The group runs for 10 weeks.
