Diversitat's Reuse and Create Programme encourages sustainable living habits through maintaining cultural hand craft skills. Bags have been handmade, using donated fabrics and recycled banners, twined up as the handles. There is a range of different sizes each designed to replace the need for plastic bags; roomy shopping bags, colourful book bags and vegetable bags made with recycled netting. Each one is unique, many printed with “go plastic bag free’ in different languages, some with beautiful hand embroidered pockets.  Our challenge now is see these bags being used in place of plastic ones. We would love you to join us in this challenge.

Diversitat has received $10,000 grant from the Sydney Myer Foundation to fit out some of the rooms at Wholefoods Café as an Art and Craft space. Classes will be based around handmade and recycled products, all about Art & Craft that satisfies the soul... So, it's in with old and out with buying new when it comes to our two great projects. Recycle your Life is dedicated to handcrafting objects of desire or function using the abundance of recycled products on offer that may otherwise go into landfill. Each Thursday throughout November you can enjoy Mauritian cuisine as part of the Wholefoods café menu.
