Multicultural youth extravaganza

multicultural youth storyMore than 50 young people from the Karen, Karenni, Afghan and Congolese communities attended a Multicultural Youth Fair at the Diversitat Northern Community Hub on September 29 which included a DJ, delicious barbecue and a selection of youth service provider information stands. The day was aimed at youth that have not had a chance to learn about and be linked to youth specific services in the region.

More recently the Department of Immigration and Citizenship has introduced Youth Sub Plans for newly arrived refugees aged between 15 and 25-years-old. In response to this move Diversitat welcomes aboard Adrian Huddart as its new Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing worker. Adrian has been busy building connections with Geelong's youth services and linking Diversitat's CALD youth with those services.
