The 20th annual Geelong Doll, Teddy and Craft Show organised by women’s service club Quota International Geelong, this week donated proceeds to Diversitat’s Women and Children New Arrivals Project.

Over 500 craft enthusiasts from around the state, flocked to the show at Geelong West Town Hall on Saturday 25thJune. The show featured over 50 stalls including a jewellery store and a hair braiding workshop run by Tereza Gum and Isabella, two Sudanese women demonstrating their traditional skills. The women are part of the New Arrivals project assisting people from Sudan, Liberia, Congo, Afghanistan and Burma in their transition to western life.

The donation was presented to Diversitat’s CEO Michael Martinez and members of the Karen, Karenni and Congolese community members, with proceeds directed towares transporting families (in particular women and children) to medical and family appointments and group outings, all with the aim to improve mental health and well-being. Diversitat would like to the dedicated volunteers of Quota International Geelong for their highly valuable contribution to such a worthy project.
