We were sad to see the Welsh Society of Geelong disband during 2010, we bid a fond farewell to Enid and Keith Hughes after many years. The Geelong Welsh Ladies Choir, however, continues to grow from strength to strength and their performances are always well attended and much enjoyed.

The Geelong Welsh Ladies Choir, formed in 1998 with its aim to support the Welsh culture in the national Folk Festival held annually in Geelong. Since its inception, the choir has grown in numbers and reputation and is now widely sought after as a performing choir.

It is an all female choir that sings a broad repertoire of music in the 2/3 and 4 part harmony. The type of music includes traditional Welsh and Australian songs, sacred, popular, songs from shows, inspirational and upbeat music. The Musical Director, Jeanette John, carefully chooses performance music to suit each and every audience.

The choir has been involved in supporting many community events. It has also participated in the Kilmore Celtic Festival, Ballarat Festival as well as a successful tour of Wales in 2004. The latter saw the choir reach an extremely high standard of performance and all concerts received high accolades from the host choirs and the concert audiences. A highlight of the tour was to sing at Caenarfon Castle, with a welcome and presentation from the major.
