When did members of your community first start arriving in Australia. Was there a period of peak immigration?

Late 60's and migration peaked in mid 80's. In early 70's there were a small number of Filipino nurses who then became permanent residents and eventually Australian citizens.

What National Days, religious days or special events does your community celebrate?

Independence day - 12 June. Philippine Fiesta - end of November each year in Melbourne

The maria Clara dress for women. barong Tagalog for men, made of abaca fibre.
